Software Developer – C++
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Scientific Search client, a world class financial services firm, is seeking several Software Developers. This is a full time direct hire position, not a contract engagement, with a dynamic organization.
Overview:
- Design, develop, and work on proprietary systems to monitor, analyze, and improve our low latency environments
- Design and implement proprietary data formats, compression schemes, and indexing strategies to aid in working with large datasets to find the signal in the noise
- Write and optimize frameworks and platforms that deal with bulk data acquisition
- Tune our Linux environment for low latency and high throughput in a highly concurrent environment
- Able to execute on ideas quickly

- Passionate about technology and interested in exploring new technologies to find the optimal solution
- Strong object oriented software developers
Requirements:
- 5 + years of development experience
- Deep understand of Linux (virtual memory, I/O, scheduling, filesystems, etc.)
- Strong C++ skills (Python development experience a plus)
- Experience in concurrent programming and distributed system design
- A general understanding of network protocols and the OSI model
- Ability to context switch effectively in a fast paced environment driven by business needs
- Ability to work as part of a team of developers and with the testing groups while also successfully managing individual tasks and projects with minimal guidance.
- Keen attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills that facilitate teamwork and interaction with colleagues and internal clients.
